We’re surrounded by more ways to communicate, yet spending less time physically together. Duraflame wanted to connect with a younger audience without simply adding to the noise—or manufacturing the kind of intimacy people scroll past every day.
The opportunity was to return to something elemental: a fire, a reason to gather and enough time for people to be present with one another.
The campaign began with a simple premise: when you start a fire, you have the potential to start much more. A revealing conversation, an unexpected connection or an evening that goes longer than anyone planned.
We invited people who had never met to gather around a Duraflame fire. We gave them a few conversation starters, then got out of the way.
Across twelve films, people opened up, made things up, laughed and sometimes didn’t need to say anything at all. Each moment was captured in a single, unhurried take, allowing the conversations to unfold naturally.
In a media landscape designed to constantly capture our attention, “Start Something” chose to slow down. It positioned Duraflame not simply as a source of warmth, but as a catalyst for something people are craving more than ever: time together.
